In this lesson you practise talking about food and meals using adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, never) and simple time expressions (every day, once a week).

We use adverbs of frequency to say how often something happens.

Frequency scale

  • always (100%)
  • usually (80–90%)
  • often (60–70%)
  • sometimes (30–40%)
  • never (0%)

Word order

  • Before the main verb: I usually eat fruit.
  • After the verb be: I am often hungry at night.
Mini drill: Say 3 true sentences about you.
Example: “I usually drink water.” / “I never eat fast food.” / “I sometimes eat dessert.”

Grammar · “Every day” and “once a week”

We can also use simple time expressions to talk about frequency.
