Talk about family and possessions
In this lesson you practise possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her, our, their) and ’s (my sister’s phone) to talk about people and things. You also practise describing family members.
Warm-up · Whose is it?
Look and answer
Choose a person in your family. Point to 3 things and say:
- “It’s my ______.”
- “It’s my mother’s ______.”
- “It’s her / his ______.”
“It’s my phone.” · “It’s my father’s car.” · “It’s his watch.”
Grammar · Possessive adjectives
Use possessive adjectives to show ownership. They come before a noun.

Grammar · ’s (possession)
Use ’s to show ownership: Maria’s bag = the bag belongs to Maria.
